I Like a Crowd

I was raised in the woods as a member of a small family that consisted of an adult male, an adult female, a female child, and eventually me. There wasn't much need for nuance to differentiate between people, and there weren't many names to remember. This is the aspect of my upbringing to which I credit my ineptness at remember names, or at least that's the line I prefer to admitting I should simply make more effort. It also means I'm typically more comfortable in small groups.

This past Sunday, I ran trails, or at least one of them, from the Notch Vistor Center, and when I returned to the bike racks and my usually lonely bike, it had a companion! Even better, it was a rather youth oriented bike with smaller 24" wheels, so I'll assume that means a younger rider pedaled up the hill for further recreation (because riding itself, even for function, is it's own recreation). I like seeing the younger generation on board, so to speak, and doing a little less damage to the earth they'll need to survive.

But the hits just kept coming! Wearing a few extra layers, I sat on some rocks in the sun to partake of my well earned mac and cheese and green peas (yes, yummy), and before long, another bike was deposited at the racks for its rider to enjoy a hike. No, I didn't snap a picture, what with the blood busily powering digestion instead of, well, snappy thinking, but really, it happened. Three can be a crowd, but ones like that make me smile!
