Riding with Julie Andrews

Years ago, when I was living in Connecticut, a major storm and flooding had weaken the abutments of a bridge near the Glastonbury/East Hartford town line. This was fantastic. The road is a popular connection between the two towns and only a quarter mile from an exit ramp near the junction of two expressways. It's a neighborhood, but it's not a serene, minimally trafficed road, yet with the bridge closed to the heft of motor vehicles while still open to pedestrians and bicyclists, the road was not only quick, but quiet!

For the last year, a bridge over railroad tracks at the north end of South Deerfield (almost middle?) has been similarly closed for repairs, and once again, I've been treated to one of my favorite things! I do also have a penchant for warm woolen mittens.
