If I'm cold...
...go outside!
I let the inside of my house get pretty cold. On the BBC, I've been hearing reports about Russia's attacks on Ukrainian's power infrastructure and how people can see the moisture from their breath inside. No, I don't have anything remotely as bad as daily bombardments, but yup, their indoor temperatures are on par with mine. One other huge difference: I choose that!
In addition to my preference to invest in storage space for layers of down rather than pay for transient heat, and the game of seeing how few BTUs I can add to the house I built to take advantage of solar heating, I like to go outside. I don't want it to feel shocking when I do, so I stake faith in acclimatization. I also like reading, and even though I remain old school with books that require page turning, it is a sedentary activity that doesn't generate much metabolic activation, so when my nose was feeling a bit too cold while reading Vonnegut's Deadeye Dick this morning, I headed out to shovel the new snow so far. It was a mere couple inches, but I came back inside nice and toasty, and with a clear path to the road!
